Crop a piece of cardboard to 8 x 8 cm.
Crop a second piece of cardboard to measure 9 x 9 cm.
Fold the bigger of the two squares on two sides. Make the fold line 1 cm deep.
Cut the little 1 x 1 cm square in the fold line out.
Trim a triangle form one end of the fold line to the other. Alternatively, you can cut a pattern on the triangle. I used a metal tearing ruler as guide to cut the pattern on my triangle.
This is what the biggest of the original two squares should look like now.
We are going to attach it to the smaller square like this, with the two wrong sides facing each other.
This is what it will look like at the back when we have glued it down.
I attach double-sided tape to the fold lines of the triangle.
With the two pieces secured I can now start decorating the bookmark. I glue some eyes onto the corner using Tombow glue.
I then use some markers to add eyebrows and lashes.
Lastly, I cut a little bow tie from a coordinating color and stick it in place. And that is the project done! Easy as pie.
The little crafter that insisted we do something 'fun' took great pride in her bookmark! The lips were her own idea. I LOVE it :-)
Slide the bookmark over the corner of your page and sit back with a good book filled with more fun ideas.
